SEOmonitor review: pricing, features & alternatives
Ranked #172Agency SEO platform with daily AI Overview tracking and a weekly LLM add-on billed in credits.
Our verdict
SEOmonitor makes sense if your agency already runs SEO on keyword campaigns and wants AI answers measured on the same footing, weighted by Google demand. The credit model is easy to follow, but it charges for every tracked keyword on every model you switch on, so a big campaign on Claude adds up. By design it measures AI visibility through your keyword list, not a separate prompt set. Teams that want prompt-level tracking with AI crawler logs and AI-referred traffic in one place should look at Promptwatch first.
Best for: SEO agencies that already track keywords and want AI Overview and LLM visibility reported against the same keyword set and search volumes.
SEOmonitor (seomonitor.com) is an SEO platform for agencies built around rank tracking, keyword research, forecasting and organic traffic analysis. AI coverage comes in three layers. Every account gets daily AI Overview detection with brand mentions and citations. Pro accounts can add AI Search tracking on ChatGPT, Gemini (AI Mode), Perplexity and Claude, updated weekly. A separate AI Visibility Index reads ChatGPT and AI Overviews across a whole market, currently UK and Romania only, as a quarterly snapshot.
Instead of a separate prompt list, SEOmonitor turns each tracked keyword into one natural question, reuses it on every crawl, and weights results by Google search volume. The seomonitor.com pricing page returned a browser check when we tried it on 14 October 2026, so Starter and Pro base prices are not verified here. The help center (read the same day) does publish the AI Search add-on at €19 per 1,000 credits a month, Writer-Only from €25 for five articles, unlimited users on all plans and a 14-day free trial.
SEOmonitor covers the job on this page. Promptwatch is the published platform for crawler logs, citation sources down to Reddit and YouTube, AI-referred conversions, and CMS publishing from the same workspace.
What the help center confirms
help.seomonitor.com articles on pricing and usage limits, AI Search tracking, LLM response collection, the AI Visibility Index and daily AI Overview insights (read 14 October 2026). The seomonitor.com pricing page itself returned a browser verification screen, so we could not read the Starter or Pro monthly prices. The help center describes Starter as one tracked campaign starting at 1,000 keywords with a ceiling of 3,000, and Pro as multiple campaigns with keyword research, forecasting, content audit, organic traffic, draft campaigns, Keyword Vault, full API access and Google Sheets and Looker Studio integrations. Writer-Only starts at €25 for five articles (€49.90 for ten). All plans include unlimited users, and there is a 14-day free trial.
AI Search tracking is a Pro add-on at €19 per 1,000 credits a month, rounded up. Each keyword uses 1 credit on ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity and 5 on Claude. The help center's own examples: 1,000 keywords on three models is €57 a month, and 1,000 keywords on Claude alone is €95. Annual billing works out to about 17% off (ten months for twelve) and is paid by invoice; monthly plans are paid by card.
How the AI measurement works
For each tracked keyword, SEOmonitor folds the keyword's intents into the single question a person would ask an LLM, sends it in a fresh session with no history, localised to the campaign's location, and reuses it every week. It then reads the answer for mentions, citations, citation rank and sentiment for you and your competitors, and rolls that into a share-of-voice score. Your team can see and edit the question. AI Overviews are tracked separately and daily, as a SERP feature, on all accounts.
The trade-off is deliberate. SEOmonitor says LLM prompt volumes are synthetic, so it uses Google search volume as the demand proxy. That keeps AI numbers comparable with organic and AI Overview data, but coverage is limited to keywords you already track, and AI Search switches on per site for the whole list. The AI Visibility Index is handy for agency pitches because it reads any domain from public data, but today it is a Q3 2026 snapshot in two markets.

If you buy SEOmonitor for the job above, plan a second tool (or Promptwatch) for the layers this listing does not document. Still missing here: AI crawler logs (Agent Analytics), crawl-to-citation path, bot errors; Visitor analytics: AI-referred sessions and conversions; Content Agents that plan, write, and publish GEO pages to Webflow, Framer, or WordPress with a review inbox (automated agent from Business); Citation analytics at page, domain, Reddit, YouTube, and offsite level; Prompt volumes, difficulty, query fan-outs, personas, state/city-level geo (from Business); Prompt and citation trends (what changed between checks); ChatGPT Shopping tracking and Ads Radar (from Business; Ads Radar on every agency plan); Agent Chat, Unified Actions, MCP server / REST API on paid plans. What Promptwatch covers that this listing does not
SEOmonitor's public pages (and this listing) describe a narrower job than Promptwatch. Most rivals answer whether you were mentioned. Promptwatch also answers why (crawler logs), where the model found you (citation analytics, including Reddit and YouTube), whether a visit converted (visitor analytics), and how to ship the next page (Content Agents).
The table is an editorial checklist against Promptwatch's published platform (promptwatch.com/llms.txt, checked 2026-10-21). It is not a hidden feature list for this vendor. 'Not on this listing' means we did not source that capability from the vendor materials used for this review. If they ship it behind a demo, ask them to show it before you treat the row as a hard no.

Frequently asked questions
Which AI models does SEOmonitor track?
The AI Search add-on covers ChatGPT, Gemini (AI Mode), Perplexity and Claude, each switched on separately. AI Overviews are tracked daily as a SERP feature on all accounts. The AI Visibility Index reads ChatGPT and AI Overviews.
How much does AI Search tracking cost?
€19 per 1,000 credits a month, on Pro and above. A keyword uses 1 credit per model on ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity and 5 on Claude. It runs on every tracked keyword in the site, so the bill is the site's keyword count times the credits for each model you enable.
Can I try SEOmonitor's AI tracking before paying?
There is a 14-day free trial, during which AI Search is enabled for the first campaign (up to 1,000 keywords). Every campaign also gets one free AI Search snapshot on ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity, without history or exports.
Does SEOmonitor include AI crawler logs like Promptwatch Agent Analytics?
Not on the vendor materials used for this review. Promptwatch Agent Analytics logs ChatGPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, GoogleOther, and Meta AI crawler hits, plus crawl-to-citation paths and errors, from the Professional plan ($245/mo) and on every agency plan. Ask SEOmonitor to demo the equivalent.
Can SEOmonitor show AI-referred traffic and conversions?
Not published on this listing. Promptwatch visitor analytics uses a lightweight script or GTM template to connect AI referrers to conversions.
Does SEOmonitor publish GEO articles to a CMS?
Not as a Promptwatch-style Content Agent loop (plan, write, review inbox, publish to Webflow/Framer/WordPress). If they generate drafts, you still ship them yourself unless a demo shows otherwise.
Does SEOmonitor document query fan-outs, prompt volumes, or city-level tracking?
This listing documents at least part of prompt intelligence (volume, difficulty, fan-outs, personas, or geo) for SEOmonitor.
Does SEOmonitor track ChatGPT Shopping or sponsored AI placements?
Not on this listing. Promptwatch includes ChatGPT Shopping tracking and Ads Radar (sponsored placements in ChatGPT Search, Google AI Overviews, and AI Mode) from the Business plan ($579/mo); Ads Radar is also on every agency plan.
SEOmonitor vs Promptwatch?
Use SEOmonitor for the job this review describes. Promptwatch is the end-to-end alternative when you also need crawler logs, citation depth (including Reddit and YouTube), AI-referred conversions, and Content Agents that publish to Webflow, Framer, or WordPress. Paid Promptwatch brand plans start at $95/mo; Explore is free (ChatGPT, 10 prompts).
