HubSpot AEO review 2026: pricing, engines, and where it stops
HubSpot AEO reviewed: what $50 a month buys, how the Marketing Hub versions differ, which three engines it tracks, and when a dedicated AI visibility platform like Promptwatch is the better buy.
Quick verdict
HubSpot AEO is the cheapest credible way for a HubSpot shop to start tracking AI answers. Fifty dollars a month gets you a daily visibility score on ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini, citation analysis, and a short list of recommended fixes. That's the whole pitch, and it delivers on it. The limits show up fast, though: three engines, 25 prompts a day on the standalone plan, and nothing about crawlers or conversions. If AI search is a line item you have to defend, Promptwatch is the tool we'd evaluate next to it.
What HubSpot AEO is
HubSpot sells AEO (answer engine optimization) in two ways. You can buy it on its own, with no other HubSpot subscription, or you get it bundled inside Marketing Hub Professional and Enterprise. Either way the core is the same. You load a set of prompts, HubSpot runs them against three AI engines every day, and you get back a brand visibility score, a competitor share of voice, and the sources each answer cited.
The recommendations are the interesting part. Instead of a chart that you have to interpret, HubSpot hands you a prioritized list: create a page, fix a technical gap, publish a video, or reach out to a third-party site that keeps getting cited. On the Marketing Hub tiers those recommendations connect to HubSpot's content and social tools, so a marketer can go from "we're missing on this prompt" to a draft without changing tabs.
There's also a free cousin. The HubSpot AI Search Grader, which our listing says was rebranded as AEO Grader in 2026, gives a one-shot score across the same three engines with no account. It's a snapshot, not a tracker, and it has no history. Run it once to see where you stand. Don't use it to measure progress.
Pricing and plans
| Plan | Price | What's included |
|---|---|---|
| HubSpot AEO (standalone) | $50/mo, or $45/mo billed yearly | 2,500 answers a month, 25 prompts daily, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, citation analysis, competitor share of voice, prioritized recommendations, 28-day free trial |
| Marketing Hub Professional | Included | Same tracking limits, plus CRM-based prompt suggestions and blog post generation from recommendations |
| Marketing Hub Enterprise | Included | 5,000 answers a month, 50 prompts daily, expanded CRM-driven recommendations, content and social tools to act on them |
The 28-day trial is long by category standards. Most dedicated trackers in our catalog offer a week. That's enough time to see how stable the visibility score is from day to day before you pay.
Read the prompt allowance carefully. Twenty-five prompts a day is a starter set for one product line. A brand that sells three products in two markets will run out of room before it covers its real buyer questions. The only way to double the allowance is Marketing Hub Enterprise, which is a much larger purchase than a tracking tool.
What it does well
Price of entry. At $50 a month, or $45 on annual billing, it costs less than most standalone tools we list, and you don't have to buy into the rest of HubSpot to use it.
Recommendations that point at work. Prompt trackers often stop at "you weren't mentioned." HubSpot goes one step further and tells you what kind of asset would close the gap. For a small team that's useful triage.
CRM context on the Hub tiers. On Marketing Hub Professional and Enterprise, prompt suggestions come from your CRM data. That's a sensible way to pick prompts that reflect what your actual buyers ask, instead of a generic keyword list.
Daily checks on all three engines. Every plan, trial included, covers ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini daily.
Where it stops
The engine list is the first wall. Our listing records no tracking for Claude, Copilot, Grok, Llama, DeepSeek, Mistral, Google AI Overviews, or AI Mode. If your buyers are developers who live in Claude, or you care about how Google's own AI answers cite you, HubSpot AEO doesn't see that traffic.
The second wall is everything below the answer. HubSpot publishes no AI crawler log tracking, so you can't check whether GPTBot or PerplexityBot ever fetched the page you're trying to get cited. It publishes no visitor analytics that tie an AI referral to a conversion. And outside the HubSpot CMS there's no published publishing path to Webflow, Framer, or WordPress. Blog post generation from recommendations is Marketing Hub Pro and Enterprise only, not standalone AEO.
Prompt research is thin too. Our listing doesn't document search volumes, difficulty scores, or query fan-outs on HubSpot's prompts. You're choosing what to track without demand data.
HubSpot AEO vs Promptwatch
| Capability | HubSpot AEO (our listing) | Promptwatch (published fact sheet) |
|---|---|---|
| Entry price | $50/mo standalone; included in Marketing Hub Pro and Enterprise | Free Explore plan (ChatGPT, 10 prompts); Essential $95/mo |
| Engines | ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini | Every paid plan: ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Grok, Llama, DeepSeek, Mistral, Copilot, Google AI Overviews, AI Mode |
| Prompt allowance at entry | 25 prompts daily | 50 prompts on Essential, 150 on Professional |
| Prompt data | CRM-based suggestions on Hub tiers | Search volumes, difficulty, query fan-outs, personas |
| Citations | Citation analysis and share of voice | Page, domain, Reddit, YouTube, and offsite citations, with trends |
| AI crawler logs | Not published | Agent Analytics from Professional ($245/mo, 25M logs) |
| AI traffic to conversions | Not published | Visitor analytics via script or GTM template, from Essential |
| Content | Blog posts from recommendations (Hub Pro and Enterprise) | 5 AEO articles on Professional; automated Content Agent on Business ($579/mo) |
The difference that matters is diagnosis. When a HubSpot visibility score drops, you know it dropped. With Promptwatch, Agent Analytics shows whether ChatGPTBot stopped fetching the page or hit errors, citation trends show which source replaced you, and visitor analytics shows whether the drop cost you sign-ups. Those three answers decide whether the fix is technical, editorial, or a PR problem.
Who should pick which
- A HubSpot customer on Marketing Hub Professional who wants a first read on AI answers: use the AEO you already pay for. There's nothing to buy.
- A small team outside HubSpot with $50 and one product line: HubSpot AEO standalone is a fair starter. Watch the 25-prompt ceiling.
- A team that has to explain to leadership why AI visibility moved and what it's worth: Promptwatch. Start on Essential for multi-engine tracking and visitor analytics, then move to Professional once you want crawler logs.
- A team with technical buyers on Claude or Copilot, or one that cares about AI Overviews: Promptwatch, because HubSpot's engine list doesn't include them.

Our recommendation
Keep HubSpot AEO if it came with your Marketing Hub plan. It's a reasonable early-warning light. But treat it as the light, not the mechanic. The first time a prompt you care about slips, you'll want to know whether AI crawlers can read the page and whether those visitors ever converted. That's what Promptwatch is built to answer: its crawler logs and conversion-tied visitor analytics are the two layers HubSpot doesn't publish, and every paid plan runs every engine it monitors.
